I can't renew my Library books online, what do I do?

There are a number of reasons why you might not be able to renew your Library books online:

  • You will not be able to renew a book that has been requested by another reader.
  • You will not be able to renew your books that have reached their maximum loan period (1 year). If you still need to keep any books for longer, you will need to return them to the Library and re-borrow them to re-set the loan period. Please go to an Ask4Help desk, and the staff will be able to help you with this.
  • If you have library charges of more than £20 on your account, you will need to pay them before you can renew or borrow. You can make a payment at an Ask4Help desk or by logging into your Library account. Please be aware that if you have cleared charges from your account, but then renew overdue books you will accrue further overdue charges relating to those books.
  • Your University Library account may be expiring or already have expired. If this is the case, but the expiry date is incorrect then you will need to contact the Student Progress Team at an Ask4Help desk.
