How much can I copy for my coursework/assignments?

The law does not specify exactly how much you may copy. However, under the terms of fair dealing you are permitted to copy a limited amount for your own private study or for non-commercial research.

Some oft-cited limits state that it is acceptable to copy one book chapter/journal article or 5%, whichever is greater.

However,as these limits have no standing in law there may be occasions where it would be considered lawful to copy more (or even unlawful to copy less).
